In 2005, Lieu turned her attention to local and global nonprofit organizations and started donating around 20 percent of her tournament earnings to charity. Remaining faithful to her roots, she continues to work with various communities and organizations across Vietnam, where she distributes money, clothing and other goods to those in need. Lieu first fell in love with cards at age 13 after playing Chinese poker with friends. She embarked on a professional career in poker to help support her parents after her beloved father had a heart attack. It's easy to see where her nickname the "Poker Diva" comes from - her petite, well-groomed appearance combined with her aggressive, serious style of play has made her the beautiful but deadly belladonna of the poker world.
With a lengthy list of prizes already behind her including 2006 L.A. Poker Classic (Winner) and 2007 No-Limit Hold'em Event 12 (Winner), Lieu's biggest cash prize was at the 2005 36th Annual WSOP where she scooped 5th prize of $168,590 on the final table.
"I've been through a lot in my life, family problems - it made me cherish my view of life and now that I have the opportunity to give, it's a blessing to be able to help people. I really believe in what goes around comes around." (Poker Lizard)
